People Care

April 21, 2007

"People Care"

On June 27, 2006 at 7 am Peter was driving to the Gold's Gym in Mashpee, Mass. when all of a sudden he got the worst splitting headache of his life.

He pulled into a parking lot to sleep when a wonderful person named Agnes Rockett-Bolduc saw him and stopped to see if he was okay.

Unable to get Peter to wake up, she called 911 and the Mashpee Fire and Rescue had him in an ambulance screaming for the Falmouth Hospital, and Dr. John

Mendleson, where they immediately diagnosed that Peter had suffered an aneurysm and needed to get to Boston.

Within a few minutes he was put on a helicopter and flew to Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Peter stated:
"When I got to the hospital, I was in the hands of Dr. Arthur Day, who my medical friends insist is the best neurosurgeon in the country.

(Dr. Day was once a great friend to Ted Williams).

I had phone and e-mail messages from medical friends around the country that included the phrase "Boston hospitals," and Dr. Andy Whitemore has helped make Brigham and Women's a miracle building beyond comparison.
I will never know...

Joy, Freedom, Peace

April 21, 2007

"There is a wonderful, mystical law of nature

that the three things we crave and deserve most in life --

joy,

freedom,

and peace of mind

-- are always attained by giving them to someone else."

Joy in the Morning

April 21, 2007

Joy cometh in the Morning!

Take time in the morning to:

1.  Do
2. Think
3. Listen
4. Look
5. Smell
6. Taste
7.  Feel

These things raise the joy barometer to great heights.

Some examples are:

• Listening to beautiful uplifting music

• Smelling Flowers

• Meditating

• Watching a video highlight of my football team's best plays accompanied by music

• Exercise

• Taste some wonderful food

• Say Decrees & Affirmations

• Write in journal

• Do the W.I.G. process

• Read uplifting, positive material so you attract positive

• Listen to nature

• Do the "Play Nice" Process

• View the sunrise

• Do the "Joy" Process

• Think Happy Thoughts..."What's the best thing that can happen?

•  Feel the Spirit of the Lord

123 Joy Barometer

April 21, 2007

There is a restuarant back east that does some interesting things when people come into to eat.

The hosts, waiters, and waitresses watch the visitors very closely and determine, on a scale of 1 to 10 the visitors joy and happiness level (Joy Barometer).

If a person was a 1 then the clear intention was to raise them to an eight, as so forth, by the time they leave the restuarant.

I have thought of this example many times and have put it into practice.

Here's the 123 Joy process:

1.  Clear intention that I inspire those who I come in contact.

2. Determine the person's joy level.

3. Do the inspiring
-to higher levels of joy via love, service, sweetness and being (verbally and non-verbally)

Receiving Glasses

April 21, 2007

Once I was in the mountains with a group doing some activities when I lost my glasses in the creek.

I was very upset until I looked up and saw serveral people wading in the creek looking for my glasses.

I was so touched by their assistance and generousity.

Our search brought forth weeds, sticks, but no glasses.

Then it happened!

As we moved to another area, several people came up to me and said,

"Len I feel sad that you lost your glasses.....here's a little to assist you in getting a new pair of glasses".
(as they handed me $10 & $20 dollar bills).

The outpouring of funds continued until I had plenty to get 2 pairs of glasses.and an exam.

I was totally shocked by their outflow to me!

The funds were very very nice but the love that flowed from them to me was astounding.

Thank you so much for the glasses and I committ to outflow my love and services in a similar manner.

Note:
I have heard all my life 'that it is better to give than to receive.'

What I know now is that it...

Expectations

April 21, 2007

The other night Treas, the kids, and I were on our way to "the" basketball game.

We were going to be early, which I love, however, I decided to take the kids to Dairy Queen to get them something to eat.

My expectation was to, very quickly, get them one corn dog each and still make it to the game early.

Treas' expectation was to get the kids totally full so she didn't have to feed them again that night.

I was less than joyful that she was getting so much food.

I then acknowledged the reason I was less than joyful.....I was in a hurry to be early and getting one item facilitated us being early.

However, somehow, a bolt of lightning came down and hit me.......

......I felt and acknowledged Treas' expectations and the upset feelings left me.

Right there at Dairy Queen I learned the greatest lesson of my life......

This is what I know now....

Peaceful, Joyful Relationships are all about.....

1. Acknowledging my Expectations

2. Acknowledging and Valuing the another person's Expectations

3. Communicating peacefully and Agreeing on a "Win-Win" Solution for each situation

Parable of Forgiveness

April 21, 2007

While I was at the University I had the privilege of taking a wonderful course entitled: "The Parables of Jesus".

The teacher was a wonderful man who taught me so much.

When we got to one particular parable about forgiveness he told us how his brother was killed by a drunk driver.

He discribed his anger and frustration he had toward this man.

However, he stated that he went thru a process of forgiveness- utilizing prayer & the atonement of Jesus, so he could forgive the man.

He said when he finished this process of prayer, meditation, and forgiveness-
all the anger and frustration was taken away by Jesus......he then had absolutely no anger toward the drunk driver.

In fact, he stated that he could give that man a hug and only feel love for him.

Wow, I thought, what a fantastic miracle to be able to forgive a man who killed your brother!  Not everyone can do that.

My Turn
The very next week I was waiting for my carpool ride at the onramp of the freeway and saw my friend coming in his green station wagon...so I stepped out in...
