This morning Jace and I went to the office.

He stated:

"Dad I am a little sick  but.....

I am attracting your good health."

After about 5 minutes at the office Jace stated:

"Dad, I have attracted your health so I am all healthy now."

He then walked to the bakery and told all the worker there how he attracted my health.

December 28, 2006

This happened when Jace was 4 years old.

Treas just called me to tell me that Jace asked her a question.

"When is our Jayden (our next baby)  coming down from heaven?"

Does he have more to do in heaven, like clean his room?

 What a cute kid!

Jace: Jesus Visits

December 28, 2006

Last night our 6 year old son Jace let us in on some information.

He told us that while he was asleep Jesus came and visited him.

Of course, I asked what Jesus communicated told him.

Jace stated very plainly:

"Jesus told me that he LOVED me very much

and

that I AM a very good boy".

I feel we all receive the same communication from Jesus.

We are loved and we are very good boys and girls.

Jace: "Sure I Will"

December 28, 2006

A few months ago our 5 year old son,  Jace Cordel
started to respond to us in an interesting way when
we asked him to do something.

His response is:  "Sure I will"

What a breath of fresh air.

He has started to rub off on me too.

When asked to do something, I respond,

~   "Sure I will!"

Those three words feel magical.

Take them for a test drive and feel the love.

People Care

December 28, 2006

"People Care"

On June 27, 2006 at 7 am Peter was driving to the Gold's Gym in Mashpee, Mass. when all of a sudden he got the worst splitting headache of his life.

He pulled into a parking lot to sleep when a wonderful person named Agnes Rockett-Bolduc saw him and stopped to see if he was okay.

Unable to get Peter to wake up, she called 911 and the Mashpee Fire and Rescue had him in an ambulance screaming for the Falmouth Hospital, and Dr. John

Mendleson, where they immediately diagnosed that Peter had suffered an aneurysm and needed to get to Boston.

Within a few minutes he was put on a helicopter and flew to Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Peter stated:
"When I got to the hospital, I was in the hands of Dr. Arthur Day, who my medical friends insist is the best neurosurgeon in the country.

(Dr. Day was once a great friend to Ted Williams).

I had phone and e-mail messages from medical friends around the country that included the phrase "Boston hospitals," and Dr. Andy Whitemore has helped make Brigham and Women's a miracle building beyond comparison.
I will never know how the neuroscience nurses and staff took care of -- much less dealt with -- me, Dan Triggs, Pat Kelly, Kim Templeton, Mary, Richard, Adam -- with everything held together thanks to the strength of my wife, Gloria. She went through far more than me.

People offer me congratulations these days, but sitting here writing is not about congratulations; it is about........

thanks, care and incredible medical genius.
Agnes Rockett-Bolduc, the guys from Mashpee Fire and Rescue, the Falmouth Hospital, the guys from Boston MedFlight and everyone at Brigham and Women's as well as the Rehabilitation Hospital of the Cape and Islands made it possible for me to be happier at the keyboard of my Sony Vaio than I've ever been before.
I have been fortunate enough that I'd never spent much time in hospitals, so I never realized how much everyone in the medical world cares.

The nurses and technicians at Brigham's were incredible.  People Care"

__________________________________________________________

It is so heartwarming to hear all the people who cared for Peter, especially Agnes, who stopped to see if a fellow human being was okay and then acting quickly.

Peter has been so grateful for all those who cared for him.

I love his 2 words:  "People Care"

There are so many good things happening in the world.

People are so nice to me on a daily and moment to moment basis.

I Am so grateful that "People Care".

Note:  Peter in the above story is none other than Peter Gammons one of our time's greatest Baseball Writers and also is a TV baseball analyst in studio for ESPN.
Even thought Peter is very famous, he feels he is:

'One of the luckiest people on the earth'

And may I add: "One of the most grateful".

Jace: Stage

December 26, 2006

The other night I was at an event that was very crowded.

I had my 5 year old son, Jace sitting next to me.

I turned my head for a split second and he was gone.

I looked and looked for him to no avail.

However, as I looked up by the stage,  I could see little Jace about to get on the stage....Oh My!

I got as close as I could to him but was still an isle away so I waved at him to come back.

He acknowledged me and obediantly started to make his way back....

He decided to make his way back thru the most crowded isle making it so people had to get up

as they were watching the event, taking pictures or using their video cameras.

At this point I was pretty frustrated with him...until....

I saw what he was doing........

He stopped in front of each person...looked them in the eye, told them he loved them and gave them a hug.

A Father's Funeral

December 26, 2006

A father's funeral is not about his career, cars, money or any other "thing".

It is about the Love, Care, and Compassion he outpoured to wife, children, extended family and friends.

It is about the adult child remembering, as a little boy, that his Daddy loved him, approved of him, and the

times they spent together going on walks, to ball games, camping, going out for an ice cream or a hamburger or just having a talk.

In the end, it is all about profound loving memories.

Memories are created each day that extend beyond the grave and into eternity.

Create some today!

Crisis Coats

December 20, 2006

I have so enjoyed asking people one question....

??  What is something nice that someone has done for you lately??

The responses have be wide and varied.

I asked Michelle this question and she responded,

"My six kids and I just moved to Utah from California and found out the winters were quite cold.

I had just started a job so funds were very thin.

I mentioned our situation to someone and they gave us a phone number for the crisis center, saying maybe they could assist us.

I called them....it was kind of noisy and the man seemed quite surprised by my request for coats for my kids.

He asked me to hold for a moment, when he returned he took our name and address, promising to bring us coats.

When they arrived with coats we were so surprised that it was not the crisis center I had called but Subway Sandwiches in Provo, Utah.

I had mis-dialed the number.

Wow, how grateful we were for their gifts!"

Jace: Prayer for Daddy

December 19, 2006

Last night Jace (our 6 year old son) crawled in bed with me.

We talked some and I used my cell phone light to assist us to make shadow puppets on the wall.

It was a great time.

Then  I got the chills and started to shake.

I  heard Jace's voice........

"Heavenly Father please bless my Daddy that he won't die so I can always have him by me"

Gift of Giving

December 18, 2006

The Gift of Giving

With the holidays just around the corner I'm reminded of a story a mother told me many years ago.

While at the bank she overheard the manager talking about a project his staff was involved in. They were collecting gifts for children in the community who, without their help, would not receive anything. So far they were not doing too well. She asked what she could do to help.

At dinner she told her family about the project. With pure excitement her kids said that since they had outgrown their bikes, and were hoping for new ones from Santa, they could give their old bikes to these children.

That weekend the kids spent hours cleaning their bikes. By the time they were done, those bikes sparkled.

They delivered the bikes Monday and the look of pure joy on her children's faces made Mom's heart swell. That day they gave her a gift, too: the knowledge that she was raising kids who cared.

The holidays are a good time to remind your kids that character is more about giving than receiving.

Jace: Angel with Me

December 18, 2006

The other night Jace (6 yr old son) and I went to south Provo to go be with the deer who come down off the mountain.

We walked right out in the field where they were and just felt their peace.

We had a great time.

Then we went for a ride up by the Provo Temple and Jace turned to me and asked,

"Daddy can I tell you something?"

"Sure son"

"Daddy, I have an angel with me"

"What does he tell you?" I asked

"To always love Jesus"

Jace continued, "The angel is still with me when he isn't near me.....

....he is with me through my heart....

......just like you are with me through my heart too when you are away, Daddy"

I then asked Jace, "Why is our heart in our chest?"

Jace replied, "Cause that's where our love comes from...inside us.  Our hearts are full of love."

Jace: 1 + 1

December 18, 2006

On Saturday night I was in the mountains walking with Jace Cordel (6 years old).

He asked me:

"Daddy, what is 1 + 1 ?"

I thought, wow, what a great time for a math lesson so I replied:

"Two"

Then Jace taught me a life lesson.

"Daddy, 1 +1 is...........

1 for the love of Jesus

1 for my love

which is EQUAL..

.....Jesus' love and my love are the same because they are connected"

Wow, I have been taught once again by a heavenly angel.

Hot Dog Gratitude

December 18, 2006

This is another in the series of HeartPrintNotes "Nice Things"
...wherein we interview people to find out "Nice Things" that others have done for them.
_____________________________________________________________________
What is a "Nice Thing" that someone has done for you?
Response:
"I went to an exciting ball game with my father.
I was the little boy (I'm in my 40's) and my father was the Daddy (60's) ...
......just like old times when I was 10 yrs old or younger.
What occurred before the game was one of my all time highlights.
As we were hurrying to our seats my Dad said he was very hungry.
I promptly stopped at the concession stand and bought him 2 hot dogs.
After he put the fixings on them and took his first bite he heartfeltly stated,
"Son, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you buying these hot dogs for me.
Thank you! I was really getting in trouble." (Dad has diabetic symptoms)
For some reason tears came to my eyes and I became emotional...just like I am now.
Maybe, it was because I was finally able to do something profound for my father
or maybe I felt so much love and acceptance from him.
So I guess you can say one of the nicest things someone has done for me lately is to:
1. Allow me to buy them 2 hot dogs!
2. Be so very grateful to me for my generosity.
3. Their gratitude to me was really a grand gift to me.
